First of all, welcome to my humble little blog! This is something I've been meaning to get off the ground for a while now, but kept putting on the back burner for one reason or another. Yet there's no better time like the present, so after a busy, largely productive, and overall satisfactory summer, it seems like the opportune moment to push off and start something fresh.
The purpose of this little forum is two-fold. Firstly, it is intended to be informative, a launching point used to introduce topics pertaining to music and sound design in the entertainment industry. This may include, but is not limited to, video game/ film reviews, analyses, technical guides, or opinion pieces on recent industry related events. However, I don't want this to simply be a lecture where I'm throwing stuff out into the cold, dark void of the web. I'd love it if people used these articles as the start of a conversation about these matters, to engage and encourage discussion on related matters. Perhaps that's all a bit too lofty in terms of aspirations, but one can dream, no?
Secondly, and the less noble of my intentions, is to share any relevant and interesting news about projects I'm currently working on. These days, marketing ourselves and our work seems to be one of many boxes we have to tick off in order to pursue a career in these creative ventures. I don't intend to bombard you with constant notifications, but if there's an exciting milestone reached or a game I've collaborated on is getting publicly released, I'd like to be able to share with you all the fruits of our hard labours.
A few notes on the nature of this blog:
-The current plan is to write articles on a bi-weekly basis (That is, at least 2 articles every month). This number may change, depending on whether any industry news/ events are coming up as well as my availability.
-While everyone is welcome to share their subjective thoughts on a topic, I will ensure that I'm clear when discussing objective facts versus personal opinions.
-When quoting or referencing articles from journalists or other websites, I will be sure to credit and cite their work at the bottom of the post whenever applicable.
Now that we've laid out the groundwork in terms of what to expect here, I think we've covered enough for this initial post. In the next week or so, I'm looking forward to writing my first proper article, but until then, take care and have a good night!
Ashley
